First and foremost you need to keep in mind is that amber is a soft material. It can easily break and crack from what seems to be minor impact. For example, you accidentally dropped it on floor.
If you’re buying amber jewelry for children keep in mind that they cannot chew, pull and in any other way tear jewelry as it may cause the product to break.
Always take amber jewelry off when it’s going to be in contact with water. Avoid wearing your necklace in the pool or hot tubs where chemicals are harmful to the amber.
If you’re not wearing your amber jewelry store it in either cloth pouch or gift box. Do not leave it out in the open.
Humidity contained in amber beads vapors in time making if softer than usually and fragile, direct sunlight would age beads even greater.
Avoid high temperatures or contact with rough surfaces, metals, amber surface easily scratches.
If the necklace needs to be washed use warm water only, no soap or use soft flannel cloth.
Parents who use these necklaces are advised to:
- Always supervise your child when he or she is wearing the necklace or bracelet.
- Remember to remove the necklace or bracelet when your child is unattended, even if it is only for a short period of time!
- Remove the necklace or bracelet while your child is sleeping (day or night).
- Don’t let your child chew on the necklace.
- Before you put the amber teething necklace on your infant, always give it a thorough inspection. Check for damage such as damaged beads, loose beads, or other issues which could cause the necklace to become a choking hazard.
